CASSA Arts Workshop  2014 - 2015
 
 
The CASSA Arts Workshop under the direction of Ruth Stenstrom, ATR-BC combined a program of art studio experiences, art therapy and bi-weekly trips to area art museums. Nisha Tracy, a recent graduate of the George Washington University Graduate Art Therapy program and two GWU art therapy interns, Rachel Crawford and Katherine Tucker assisted the program. The internship year culminated on June 24, 2015 with the painting of a Recovery Tree Mural, in which each participant contributed a leaf.  
CASSA is funded in part by the  the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities, an agency supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.
CASSA offers art therapy sessions to men and women, as well as studio art experiences in drawing, painting, fused glass, mixed media sculpture, fiber arts, photography, computer graphics and music.

Recent museum trips have been to the National Museum of the American Indian, the National Gallery of Art to see the Piero di Cosimo exhibit, the Richard Estes exhibit at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Botanical Gardens, the National Portrait Gallery, the African Art Museum, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the National Postal Museum, the Smithsonian Folk life Festival and the Hirshhorn Gallery of Art.
