The CASSA Arts Workshop under the direction of 
Ruth Stenstrom began its fall program with a museum trip to see the Kerry James Marshall paintings and the Ballets Russes Exhibit at the East Wing of the National Gallery of Art. Bi-weekly trips are a feature of the CASSA program to such venues as the Hirshhorn Gallery, the Smithsonian American Art Museum (pictured lower left), the National Museum of the American Indian, the National Museum of African Art, the Dillon Ripley Center, the National Portrait Gallery, the Botanical Gardens, the Freer, the Air & Space Museum, the National Gallery of Art Andrew Wyeth and Degas/Cassatt exhibits, the Smithsonian Folklife Festival featuring Kenya and China and the Corcoran Gallery of Art.

CASSA offers art therapy sessions to men and women, as well as studio art experiences in drawing, painting, fused glass, mixed media sculpture, fiber arts, photography, computer graphics and music. 

The program is supported in part with funds from the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities and the National Endowment for the Arts.

This year  recent art therapy graduates Stephanie Tyler and Nisha Tracy have worked with CASSA to expand opportunities for participants to explore art in a therapeutic environment. CASSA participants Edward S., Robert H. and William H. have assisted with fused glass program with making  pendants that were on display at the City Arts V Exhibit. In September, 2014 GWU art therapy graduate students Rachel Crawford and Katherine Tucker joined the staff

On July 2 Michael Botticelli, the new National Drug Policy Director visited the program with his staff and the Director of APRA, the DC Office of Addiction Prevention and Recovery Administration. In January we received visits from the former White House Office of  National Drug Control Policy Director Gil Kerlikowske with members of his staff in a Martin Luther King day celebration. DC Mayor Vincent Gray with DC City Council member Jim Graham have also met with CASSA participants.
City Arts V Exhibit 
CASSA Arts Workshop artists at May 16th reception for collaborative show currently on view with the Lorton Art Program 
at Ingleside at Rock Creek retirement community.

On May 16, 2014, City Arts V, a collaborative exhibit with the Lorton Art Program opened at Ingleside at

Rock Creek at 3050 Military Rd, NW in Washington, DC with a reception for 200 people. The show was extended until July 17, 2014.
